Assisi School For The Blind

Our History

Holy Bible Mark 8:22-25
They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. 23 He took the blind man by the hand … once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.
He loved all, the poor, the sick, the suffering the abandoned and the rejected of the society. Yes Jesus had a special compassion to the blind and deaf. He listened their cry, calls them to him, touches them with a loving compassion and deals them.
Assisi sisters of Mary immaculate (Founder Rev: Msgr. Joseph Kandathil)
The Congregation of the Assisi Sisters of Mary Immaculate was founded by Very Rev. Msgr. Joseph K.W. Thomas, a diocesan priest of Ernakulam - Angamaly ArchDiocese, on 2nd April 1949, at Greengardens, Cherthala, Kerala, India. The founder adopted Mary Immaculate as the patroness and St. Francis of Assisi as the patron of the Congregation. The charism of ASMI is to follow the crucified Jesus and radiate His compassionate love in joyful service to the sick, needy, poor and rejected of society through medical, educational, pastoral, social ministries and evangelization. Following the path of our dear father founder, under this wise guidance and instructions we have started a school for the deaf and the blind in 1968.
